Big Bertha canal cruiser. Ideal for the adventurous young at heart traveller, on a budget, who is looking for a real life experience by living and sleeping on the canal. An economical self catering option. The boat is available to hire for weekend use only. Close to Leidseplein. Free WiFi.Big Bertha is a traditional metal hulled canal cruiser. She is permanently moored next door to Houseboat Ripple in the 'old west' part of Amsterdam.She is approximately 8 metres long with an upper covered cabin area ideal for dining which has 2 bistro chairs and bistro style table. Stairs down to an enclosed lower cabin area housing a separate flushable toilet, kitchen area with running cold water, fridge and a 2 hob gas stove. There is ample seating around a central table that lowers to make the double berth / bed. Both cabin areas have electrical lighting. Outside you can sit in the sun as the boat gets sun all day (weather permitting). Access to the boat is across a private boardwalk but you do need to climb into the upper cabin.The lower deck is lockable but we advise against leaving valuables unattended. A power cable can be run from the adjoining houseboat if you need AC power supply for phone charging etc. Free wifi.The accommodation is similar to staying in a small touring caravan .... There is no shower or running hot water. Basic cooking equipment and tea/coffee is supplied along with 2 sleeping bags and small towels.The owner lives directly next door in case of emergencies. Guests are asked to respect the peace and quiet of the neighbourhood. The Leidseplein entertainment area is within a 10 minute walk or 5 minutes on the tram. Bikes are available to rent separately.
