If you are looking for an affordable hostel, more than just a place to sleep, a fun place to meet travellers alike or a place just to kick back and chill out in one of our hammocks, then look no further than The Wild Fig. Winning a Trip Advisor Award for Excellence (2014), we provide way more than just a clean hostel, friendly international staff and super comfortable beds, we have something special that will make you not want to leave. Run by two travellers (English and Australian) our hostel echoes the vibrancy, comfort and little quirks of our own travel experiences from across the world. We chose to open our hostel outside the Old Town centre to make it the kind of unique ‘home away from home’ that so many of guests have come to love – a place where you can relax, unwind and socialise with new and old friends, with a buzz and vibrancy that will ensure your stay is one you will never forget. Our charming and unique hostel is located in the safe neighbourhood of Arbanasi and is perfectly located to provide quick and easy access to the main bus and train stations of Zadar (just 10 minutes walk). We are also just a short walk to the beautiful coastline and beaches of the Kolovare cafe precinct, where you can take a drink and watch the sunset or dive into the sea of the beautiful Adriatic, alongside the locals. If you want to visit the Old Town of Zadar, then rest assured that we are only a 20 minute walk to the Old Town centre (short route) or a 40 minute walk along a stunning coastline path (long route) – where you can enjoy unsurpassed island views, take a swim or even try cliff jumping into the sparkling Adriatic sea. If you are feeling a little tired we can arrange a local taxi to take you into the Old Town for just a few euros or the local bus stop is located just outside the hostel. We also have mountain bikes available for rent. The Wild Fig offers a range of dorm and private rooms that are clean and secure with comfort in mind. Each guest is provided with a locker for valuables (bring a padlock or rent one from us) and we have the comfiest mattresses on extra height bunks to ensure the best night sleep. Our arty and comfortable twin and double rooms are located on the upper floor of the hostel for extra privacy and lead onto a large communal terrace with views over the distant Velebit Mountains. Feel free to use our spacious and fully equipped guest kitchen (the biggest kitchen of any hostel in Zadar), with a local supermarket just across the road. If you don’t fancy cooking – we offer curry and BBQ nights run by our wonderful staff - and homemade cakes for breakfast to ease grumbling stomachs day and night. At the Wild Fig we also offer the largest common areas of any hostel in Zadar, in which you can both relax or socialise with other guests. Grab a drink from our licensed hostel bar with backpacker prices to make you smile – including great smoothies, local wines, Croatian beers and fancy cocktails - then enjoy the views out over our beautiful hostel garden. We hold nightly events at the hostel, making it easy to meet other likeminded travellers. However our biggest asset at The Wild Fig are our staff - always ready to welcome you with a smile and with local knowledge that will be sure to make your stay in Zadar unique. We offer suggestions and ideas that can guarantee will make your stay unforgettable - from local cliff jumping sites, to day trips to the National Parks in our hostel van, bike riding adventures or speed boat adventures to the local islands.
