Inn Old Amsterdam is located in an historical monument full of character (1645) on the Nieuwmarkt, a vibrant residential quarter with bars, restaurants and outdoor cafes. Our house looks out onto the most important gate of the city of Amsterdam (1488), the Sint Anthonispoort, now known as De Waag. For our guests we have fitted up a comfortable room with a kitchenette on the first floor, and a large studio with private bathroom, toilet and kitchen on the second floor. We are Daan, Cok and Inigo, and we are looking forward to your visit. THE B&B ROOM A recently renovated and elegantly furnished B&B room on the 1st floor with a fantastic view of the Waag and the Nieuwmarkt. Maximum 2 persons. STUDIO WAAGZICHT Recently renovated studio for two persons on the 2nd floor under the original beams taken from old ships. Living room with fantastic view of the Waag and the lively Nieuwmarkt. Here are the ingredients to make yourself a nice breakfast. We strive to maximize the biological and environmental friendly products. DE WAAG In 1601 the old city walls were razed to the ground in connection with the expansion of the city. The Sint Anthonispoort was spared, but lost its function. On either side, part of the canals were filled in, creating a square: the current Nieuwmarkt. In 1617 the former city gate was given the function of a weighing place. (or toll bridge). The building is popularly known as De Waag. Nowadays it accommodates a large cafe-restaurant as well as a centre for new media.
