The Turtle Project started as a government run hatchery in 2001. In 2006 it was adopted by a local chalet resort, Juara Lagoon. In 2008 Juara Lagoon joined with current directors to create a conservation and environmental effort, which involves tourists, visitors, volunteers, schools and the local community. The real difference in staying here is, it's not just a place to stay, it's a place to get involved in. This is a research and nature conservation center with a working-hostel, so by coming here we expect that you want to get involved and help out ! Staying here includes: accommodation w WIFI, conservation involvement, instruction, full breakfast & lunch, coffee/ tea, beach patrols by boat, kayaks, snorkel equipment, tools and materials for projects, laundry, dvd's, library and much more. Naturally there is a large beach, food garden and fish pond, large community area, kitchen, laboratory area, workshop, waterfall jungle treks We purposefully do not have: a pool, satellite TV, bar, karaoke, parties, blinking lights etc.
